About RIKI WATANABE:
A pioneering giant of post-war Japanese industrial design, Riki Watanabe (1911–2013) spent decades shaping modern minimalism. After studying under legendary architect Bruno Taut, Watanabe established his own studio in 1949. Best known for his low-cost String Chair and his landmark public clocks, his work achieved global acclaim when his Torii Stool and Circular Center Table won the prestigious Gold Medal at the 1957 Triennale di Milano.
